Why see a dental prosthetist?

Dental prosthetist are qualified and skilled members of the dental team. We are trained dental technicians, the people who actually make the teeth, and are qualified to deal directly with patients to make sure they get the best possible denture treatment options and service.

We are the denture and mouth guard professionals!

Do I need a referral?

No, make an initial consultation for an obligation free appointment to meet us and discuss your requirements, needs and expectations.

How often should I have my dentures looked at?

At least once every 2 years. This will prevent major issues in the future. A denture check will avoid trauma to your oral surfaces and ensure teeth are fully functional.

How long does it take to get new dentures?

Full upper and/or lower dentures - up to four weeks (4 or 5 appointments are needed to go through all the steps).
Partial dentures, metal or acrylic, 1-3 weeks (depending on the type of denture and the amount of teeth that will need replacement).

How long does it take for a mouthguard to be made?

In off-season 1 or 2 days.
In sport season usually a week.

My teeth are worn, what should I do?

Worn teeth are usually an indication that your dentures are due for a replacement. Do you drive around with worn tires on your car?

My dentures are loose, what should I do?

In some cases loose dentures can be corrected by refitting the fitting surface (called a reline).

My denture is cracked/broken, what now?

Have it repaired ASAP. A cracked denture will break eventually. A broken denture can cause injury.
Try to avoid glueing it back together, it makes the repair process more difficult.

I want my teeth to be the same as my current set. Is this possible?

All dentures are hand made. We will choose the same shape and colour denture teeth. We will get pretty close but it will not be 100% the same.

My denture is stained/dirty. Can you clean it?

We can give your denture a professional clean. Some staining is not removable.  Bring it in and we can have a look.

I have a severe gag reflex with impression taking. Can you help?

We can alter our techniques and try to minimize the gag reflex. Do not worry about it, come and talk to us.
